Hacktivism : The Declaration of Independence of Cyber Space

Notwithstanding the conventional wisdom of different countries passing their own legislations and implementing them with the use of “Treaties”, there is a school of thought which advocates that “Cyber Society” should be considered as an “Independent State” and a regulatory framework are established of the netizens, by the netizens and for the netizens.

In such a state of affairs, the netizenship will be regulated through the “Name and Number System” or such other measures as the Cyber Society determines.

To the extent that activities in the Cyber Society have an effect on the physical society, there can be a “Treaty” between the Cyber Society and the UN or individual countries so that the interests of the physical space dwellers are adequately protected.

Though this appears to be a bizarre idea at  this point of time, the emerging concepts of “Declaration of Independence of Cyber Space” frequent “Hacktivist” attacks, the “Wikileaks” phenomenon all point to the fact that an emerging regulatory architecture where the Cyber Space will develop its own set of rules and means of implementing them with the objective of maintaining harmony and peace in Cyber Society and at the same time ensure that physical space laws are not violated.

Hacktivism is becoming an overarching challenge for the governments across the world and numerous instances of government database and secret leaks have been announced in order to support the active hactivism campaigns.
